Christmas @ Grandma's with the turtles

Merry Christmas.  We began our Christmas vacation with Grandpa & Grandma with the turtles.  What a fun and special time it was to hang out with grandpa & grandma, and  all the uncles & aunts.  Grandma made me a beautiful quilt which I absolutely love, all my favorite colors.  The big boys received handcrafted boxes, made by grandpa so that they can store all their most valuable treasures in it, and lock it.  IT took a while to figure out the locks, remembering a combination is sometimes tricky, but they mastered it after a few hours.  Kendall got just what she needed, more babies, so she spent her time putting babies to bed, getting them up, feeding them and the list goes on and on.  The babies were not so thrilled, not much excites them right now, except eating!  Kevin was so happy to get restocked on his Starbucks coffee. We had lots of fun with all our wonderful family, and friends.

Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful time of year, this is by far my favorite time of year, I love that everyone celebrates the birth of Jesus, knowingly or not.  We look forward to Christmas, each year, the kids are all so much fun, and we get excited about all the traditions we have started and continue to start.  This Christmas we decided to stay home, and were so happy we did since Santa brought the big boys two new bikes, and Kendall a new kitchen.  What great planning on our part!!

We spent Christmas eve,  preparing cinnamon rolls, to give to family, and of course posole. We learned about posole while living in Albuquerque, and quickly became hooked.  It is a traditional soup that is served every Christmas eve, or day! It is so yummy, and fun to make.  Then we went to church, it was a beautiful service, with wonderful music, and dramas, after church we went to some friends house.   Before we knew it, the time had clipped away, and it was near 10:oopm, so we had to hurry to get home, so we did not miss Santa.  The big boys were so excited, but surprisingly slept very well.  Daddy on the other hand was so excited for Christmas also so he did not sleep.  

Christmas morning arrived very early, not because of the boys, but because of the big boy!  Kevin was so excited to see the boys got bikes..and wanted to make sure he got it on fill, so he woke up about4 am, I told him to go back to sleep about every 15 minutes, finally he got up about 5:45.  He kept coming into our room and asking if I was getting up yet, I told him to wake me when the boys got up, he said I would miss out on them seeing their new bikes, hello...you are filming it right?? He did not like that response, so needless to say, I was up about  6:45.  We sat and we waited, and waited, and waited....Finally Kaden got up about 7:30, and Kylor soon after, and it was all caught on video YEAH!  We had to wake up baby girl Kendall about 8:00am since we couldn't hold the boys off any longer.  We listened to the Christmas story, found baby Jesus and put Him back in the manger, read our letter from Santa, and then tore into the presents. What fun!

Kaden & Kylor were both shepherds for the Christmas Pageant.  They did a wonderful job singing the songs and Kylor closed the pageant with a shepherds prayer, that he worked so hard to memorize. He was very cute, and very sincere.  On a more comical note, Kylor did provide all of the comedy for the pageant.  He used his staff as a gun several times, despite the motions from daddy & mommy to put it down, he just couldn't resist the temptation to fire on the audience!

What an adventure.  We went Christmas Tree cutting in the Mogollion Rim, outside of Payson, AZ.  For weeks, Kevin had been watching the weather and the reports kept saying perfect weather in the 60's, not a cloud in the forcast, and now snow on the ground.  So our logical planning was not to bring any of our snow gear, since space is always an issue with us.  What a suprise it was when we got to our Destination, and there was a foot of snow on the ground, and blizzard like conditions.  The snow was coming down so hard we couldn't see infront of us, and boy was it chilly.  Needless to say we all got soaked, and froze, the babies and I stayed in the car, and Kevin and the big boys went and looked for the perfect tree, along with Grandpa, Grandma, and cousin Stephanie.  The sun was setting and we still hadn't found a tree so I went out with Kevin, and we found the perfect tree, cold and darkness can quicken a decision.  Our tree was absolutely beautiful, all 14 feet of it.  We spent the night in Payson, and headed home the next day, with our tree tied to the top.  We set up our tree on Sunday, and boy was it BIG, it did not seem that big in the forest, but it did fit all our ornaments on it.  What fun we had decorating it, Kendall was such a big helper putting up the lights, it was a little heavy on the bottom, but nothing the tree could not handle.

What a wonderful day!  We celebrated our first Thanksgiving, at our home, right here in Bullhead City.  We usually go out of town for Thanksgiving, but decided to stay home this year, and cut our tree the day after Thanksgiving.  We ate like Kings, a full menu with non-stuffed turkey, stuffing, sweet potoates, mountain top muffins, cranberry sauce (Kylor's favorite) mashed potatoes, gravy, and of course sparkeling cider, pumpkin pie , and a wheel barrow to move us after dinner.  We spent all day preparing, and only a few minutes eating!  Kaden ate a majority of turkey, Kylor ate everything, and Kendall ate the stuffing, and turkey, the babies opted for warm milk.  We had a blast!

Kylor Turns 6!

Whoo what a day, our little boy is now 6!  The time has flown by.  For his birthday he wanted to have a Star Wars Clone Trooper birthday party, and of course have friends over.  A house full of little boys, it does not get much crazier than that!  We had hot dogs, that they roasted over the fire pit, played star wars charades, and ate lots of Clone trooper cake, we filled all the boys up on sugar and sent them home.  What a night!

Batman, A Clone Troope, and 3 little bees, thats what the Dunlaps were dressed as this year!  We spent the evening at out Church fall festival, and came home with more candy than any child probably should have  in their lifetime!

Pumpkin Picking

Finding a place to pick pumpkins is not as easy as we thought it would be, apparently when you live in one of the hottest desert ever, things have trouble growing! We searched and searched and finally found a pumpkin patch in northern Las Vegas. So off we went! We spent the night in Vegas, and had a blast. It is not always easy to find a place to hold all 7 of us, with the space we need, but we did it. We ordered out pizza,and ate by our fireplace,thank goodness it was mostly just for show or we would have all cooked, and then the big boys went off swimming. The next morning we set off for the pumpkin patch. Having spent a lot of time in Vegas with the babies, it is much easier to get around, thank goodness! We made it to the pumpkin patch, and discovered it was all pretty well picked over, there were only a few rotten pumpkins, but the good news the apple orchard was great, the boys and Kendall got to pick lots and lots and lots of apples. I spent the time figuring out what I could do with 20 pounds of apples. So we struck out with the pumpkins but did get lots of apples, we stopped by the store on the way home, and got our pumpkins.

Kyson & Kelson Baby Dedication

What a very special day for our family.  Today was Kyson & Kelson's baby dedication at our church.  To make it even more special, Grandpa Lane performed the ceremony.  Grandpa & Grandma made the trip up, and spent quality time with with the family!  We are so thankful for our babies, and the church family we have to support us while our families are so far away.  After the service we went out to celebrate with Chinese food, yeah!

Labor Day 08

We hope ya'all have had a wonderful weekend! We enjoyed the time off and being together, the weather was actually not that bad here either. For the most part we had a pretty peaceful weekend so we decided to end the weekend with a bang, and take the whole family to Target to get a potty seat and then go grocery shopping. Whew what an adventure, you can just imagine two babies, Kendall and two boys on their heeleys. By the time we were checking out we had two and half eaten string cheeses, two empty chocolate milks, and a half eaten plum, that Kendall found somewhere in the produce section, the cashier was very nice, and weighed Kendalls half eaten plum, threw away the string cheese wrappers, and accepted all the items that ended up in our cart that we didn't need, like mangos, jalepenos, and various bags of whatever Kendall could reach. Needeless to say we were all a little tired, but decided to introduce Kendall to the potty, she thinks that it is pretty cool, to sit on at least, but it just doesn't hold as much toilet paper as she would like. So the baby was left to learn how to use the potty while Kendall brushed her teeth.
One more lesson I learned tonight is that a sink of water can fill up much quicker than it empties. The boys have chores to do each night, and Kaden was washing the dishes I told him to let the sink fill up to wash, I forgot to say not all the way, so as I walked by the kitchen and saw Kaden stripping down (which should have been my first clue) I noticed the water was overflowing onto him, as well as the floor. And of course there is Miss Kendall holding on to Kadens' legs for dear life so she wasn't swept away in the flood I guess.

It was a cold, and rainey day out ( as cold as it gets for Bullhead City) and we had nothing to do imagine that, so we decided to take a simple picture of our  beautiful children - not so easy!  Look closely at the pictures and you can see how Kylor helped us (or so he says) to keep Kendall in place, next time we suggested using another body part besides her neck!

1st day of School!

Good Afternoon!
We hope everyone is having a wondeful day! We survived our 1st day of school, it was very exciting for the big boys, and very sad for the mommy, but Kendall and the babies made sure to keep me very busy. Kaden loves the 1st grade, as does Kylor, but Kylor said he didn't want to go back for a while since he learned to read at school. Needless to say he is back in school today!
This is our 1st week of being home alone, without the wonderful help from the grandmas. We sure are missing them around here, but are so thankful for the time that they spent with us. We also know that the grandpas probably wouldn't have survived mush longer. A man can only go so long without food, television, keys, and their better half :) We are so blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive family. The babies continue to get bigger and bigger, Kyson is 7lb 6oz 19 3/4 inches, Kelson is at 6 lb 14 oz, 19 1/2 inches. Kelson's refulx seems to being doing very well, we haven't had any chocking or asperating spells, which is a praise. Kelson has a head ultrasound tomorrow, so we would ask for your prayers that the test goes well, with no abnormal findings. As always we will keep you posted!
A quick memory lapse, the filter was removed last week, and the procedure went well, thanks for all the prayers. I am now hoping to get my blood stabilized so that I can quit going to the lab 3 times a week. In His time, so I continue to pray for patience, and that my veins hold up Although I have developed quite the friendships with all the lab techs, who would have thought, you could like those who take your blood over and over !

Well, some of you might want to know exactly what all went down the week of the birth of the boys.The Story(true story) all began with like this...

It was June 8th, 2008 when I was getting ready to take the youth group on our mission trip to Prescott, AZ which is about 4 hours away from Bullhead City, AZ. As I was getting the vans ready, I noticed that both vans plates were stolen. Monday June 9th, the day that we are to leave for Prescott, I had to go to MVD to get new plates. We were all ready to hit the road, until one of my staff called me on the radio and said that the van was dead. With that we jumped the van and went straight to Wal-mart and were there with 15 teenagers for 2 hours. We finally left for Prescott and arrived at 6pm.

Tuesday June 10th... one of my students had developed a case of pink eye, and as you all know, I can't stand pink eye. So I take him to Urgent Care and we were there for 2 hours and the finall diagnosis was pink eye, but it was not contagious. So we head back to the camp, and when I get there, the students run to me and say that one of the girls sprained her ankle. So I had one of my staff take here into town. I thought the day was done, until I find out that my student leader is throwing up, with a migrane headache. So then I had back into town to buy water and gatorade so that everyone does well the next morning.Now during this time, Codi's mom is with Codi and a lady from church, called me up and said that she is coming to help out Codi as well.

Wednesday June 11th... We wake up, do our quite time and gather around for our group time. And it was during that time when I told all the students that today is going to be a great day and nothing will stop us from working. At least thats what I thought.it was 9:15 am and we just began working, and then one of the ladies of the camp came to me and said that Codi was in the hospital. I instantly called Codi to ask what happend and if she was alright. She said that she was opening the blinds and all the sudden she felt like she was going to the bathroom, but it wouldn't stop, she had Kaden get grandma, but he said that she was in the shower. Needles to say that they went to the hospital. Codi didn't know what exactly was going on, because her water never broke, and she was at 33weeks along.I instantly started driving the church van back to bullhead, and called our associate pastor everything what was going on, and he was gracious enough to allow me to use his car, and he continued to finish out the mission trip. We met in just outside of Kingman and switched. Once we switched, Codi's mom called and said that they were flying her to Las Vegas, NV do to the fact that she was dialated to 5cm and Bullhead Hospital could not treat the babies, because they were not equipped. Codi said that the Helicopter flight was horrible. She had to lay on her side in a ball to fit in the helicopter, plus her nose was touching the glass and the pilot said that it was the worst flight that she had to fly. And to make things worse there was no a/c.Now I was still driving to Las Vegas, and had to go through the hoover dam, After the dam, I had no clue where I was going, and it didn't help for the doctor to call and ask were I was at, becuase they didn't want her to dialate more than were Codi was at. They wanted to do a c-section. I told him that I was coming out of the hoover dam, and that is were I called our associate pastor to ask how I get to the Las Vegas. While I was on the phone I noticed I was doing 65 in a 45, and saw a highway patrol whip around and you guessed it pulled me over. I immedialy told him that I know I was speading and my wife just got flown to Las Vegas from Bullhead to deliver our babies and I have been driving from Prescott, AZ. He still asked for license and registration, and I said "about that this isn't my car...it my associate pastors car" He than allowed me to go, because he was laughing really hard, the cop said, "I knew somthing was up since I didn't see any hands on the wheel." Needless to say that he let me go without a ticket and told me to not go 10 mph over the speed limit. I finally made it to the hopsital and Codi calls and says for me to get a camera... I did and ran right where she was at. I arrived at 2:40 pm and the boys were born at 2:50. A very fast delivery.So I thought you all might like to know how this day began. The twins were both 15in. long and Kyson was at 4.3 lbs and Kelson 3.4lbs.

Hello to all!
We have a date for the filter removal - yipee! I will be getting the filter removed on August 4th at 9:00am in Las Vegas at Sunrise hospital, where this all began. I do not know what the hold up has been this whole time, but it was not our time but Gods. They are planning to do an ultrasound here at the hospital on Thursday morning, this time I know that there is a clot there so they cannot miss it. As for the other news, the hematologist said that I have a genetic predisposition for blood clots, so I will have to remain on the blood thinners for at least a year if not indefinite- I will have to continue to do follow up test with the hematologist. So that is why is is okay that we are removing the filter later than three weeks since I am not getting off the blood thinners anytime soon. I continue to have leg swelling, along with mild pain, which I was informed that it is normal, and will take 3-6 months for the clot to fully dissolve, that was a big relief because I was beginning to worry that i may have developed another clot, I guess the body naturally preforms a bypass when there is a clot so that is what is happening - amazing ! I am not excited to have this procedure done, but I am very excited to finally be done with this whole ordeal. Thanks to all for all the prayers, there is finally an end in sight.
As for the babies, they are doing great and we are finally getting on a schedule of feeding every 4 hours so for the first time last night we got 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep it was absolutley wonderful. I have sent to pictures of the little snuggle bugs, Kyson is in the yellow/blue, Kelson is in the blanket.

Busy Babies

Good morning!
We are tyring to settle in around here, but it is definitly very busy. The babies are trying to make sure that everyone around here is confused, just when we think that we are somewhat on a schedule, they change things up. Sometimes they like to eat every 4 hours, and sometimes every 2. Days are much smoother than nights, last night they were both hungry every two hours both at the same time, I have become quite talented at nursing one and bottle feeding the other all in the dark. Aside from the busyness we are having a wonderful time having everyone together. Kendall makes sure to keep us busy during the babies nap times - today she desided to help me clean the bathroom with the boys orange mango shampoo, all over the floor- it smells very fruity in our bathroom. The big boys are very big helpers, and trying very hard to get their little brothers straight - as are all of us too!
I will send out the update after I see the hematologist tomorrow, we are praying that we will be able to get the filter removed this week ASAP - so I can finally be done with this.

Kelson is home

Hello to ALL!
Kelson is HOME!! Yahooo!! We are so excited to announce that the Dunlap Family is all together, finally! We picked him up today from vegas. Kaden, Kysor, and Kendall were all very excited for his arrival. Kendall was a little confused by the double issue going on. We are really trying to learn who is who, I wanted an extra challenge for Kevin so I put them in the same outfit. It is definitly crazy around here but we are having a ball. Kelson goes to the Dr tomorrow so we will se if he has passed up big brother Kyson, who is 6 lb, and 19 inches!

Good Afternoon!
Hello to all! Once again we have exciting news about Kelson, right now he is scheduled to come home on Thursday!!!!!!!! The diagnosis of his reflux has really helped his feeding, and he has not had any more heart rate drops since. He eats lots and lots now. We are so very excited to pick him up. I am sure big brother Kyson is excited to having his roomate back.
My day was as exciting as they come, I went to the hematologist, the lab, and the ob today. Kevin was hiking in the Mountains with the teens, so he missed out on the fun. The hematologist was very nice, and seemed very knowledgable - yahoo! He has ordered a bunch of labs for pre-procedure filter removal, which I will have done on Wed. and hopefully have the filter out be the beginning of next week, and hopefully up in Vegas!
Little Kyson is getting well adjusted to crazy life in the house. He sleeps well and eats alot, usually during the wee hours of the night. As for the rest of the gang, they are all great.

hi all,Hope everyone is doing great. We are all very good, a little tired, but making it. It should really get exciting when little Kelson comes home. Kelson is doing very well. He had an upper GI on Friday, and they found that the reason his heart rate was dropping while eating was due to reflux. So now they have him on a thicker formula, that he can swallow but not asperate on. They tried to thiccken up the breast milk, but it became to thick and wore him out, and the cannot add rice to the breast milk because it breaks down the protein, so for the time being hi will be on the formula until his esophugus matutres. He had a great day today with no heart rate drops so hopefully we can begin the 5 day countdown!Kyson is also doing great he is getting settled into his new home, and had his first bath today. It was a family affair. His big brothers are absolutly amazed with everything he does, and Miss Kendall wants to give him kisses all the time, that and try to pull his toes, and hair. She also keeps her post by Kysons bed and Shushes everyone while he sleeps.And for the update with the cardiologist appt. that I had on Friday - we decided not to go with him. Kevins 1st question was have you ever done this procedure? the answer was no but the Dr did say that he could get a video to watch to learn how to do it and borrow the tools from another hospital. I don't think you can get much better medical care than that :) Kevin did ask what happened if I began to bleed - he said that usually doesn't happen, and if it did they would have figure out what to do then! Hello - needless to say we left there in a hurry. I found it a little comical - Kevin not so much.Well we hope you have a blessed Sunday - love to all!

July 15, 2008 Baby Update

Good Morning!
We have exciting news about the two little babies. They are both sharing a bed, this move has seemed to really help Kelson, he has started taking ALL his feeds by the bottle and has maintained his body temp. They are both doing very well, maybe they have just wanted to be together this whole time. And since Kelson is eating so well they took out his feeding tube, so now both boys are tube free and seem to be loving it! We are so excited for the great strides that Kelson has made just in the past few days. We continue to wait for what will happen next in my care, the doctors are trying to get everything worked out, its a waiting game and a definite test of patience.

Good Afternoon!
Hope everyone is doing well, we are all staying indoors since it is a little warm outside. The boys are getting ready to make playdoh with grandma, so that should be very exciting. Kendall is napping so we take advantage of these alone times.
The little boys are doing well. Kyson is batteling a bout of thrush. He is very uncofortable, but is still managing to eat. They are treating him with nystatin so hopefully he will be healed up real soon. His heart rate has dipped a few times but they believe that is from the thrush since it hurts him to swallow so he holds his breath and then takes big gulps of milk. The poor little guy, as for his weight he is up to 5lb7ounces. Little brother Kelson is trying very hard to catch up to Kyson he is doing a great job of eating, and is maintaining his body temp within his isolet, they are still planning to move him out later this week. The good news and also sad news is that if Kyson can get over his thrush, and maintain stable vitals then he may be able to go home next week, Kelson is not ready to go home yet, so he would have to stay another week or so. One part of us is thrilled to have Kyson coming home soon, but also sad that Kelson will be all alone. Patience is all that we continue to ask God for. I continue to be on bedrest but I am counting down the days, and hope that Friday I will be relieved of bed rest.

Good Afternoon!
First of all I want to apoligize for getting behind in the updates, it has been a little bit crazy, but I should be able to get things back on track now. I also want to thank everyone for all the calls, cards,food, flowers, balloons, encouragement and most importantly prayers. We couldn't have made it through this challenging time without each of you, we love you all.
Now to the updates. The boys continue to do great, we are trying to stay patient as we want to bring our babies home now, but know it will be in the perfect time. Kyson continues to hold on to the title of the big brother, he is at 5 lb 3 ounces, and 17 inches long. He is taking most all of his feeds by the bottle, which is the goal in order to come home. Kelson is catching up to brother he is at 4 lb 11 ounces and just under 17 inches long. They still have him in the incubator, but they have turned the heat down to the lowest setting, and he is maintaining his temperature well, so in a few days they hope to take him out of the incubator, to see if he can keep his temp up on his own. Kelson is also working on the bottle feedings, he is taking them well, he does not have quite the stamina of Kyson, but we know that will come soon. So in the meantime they contine to feed with his tube.
As for myself I was released from the hospital on Sunday evening, on the condition that I would remain on strict bedrest. I must remain flat with ,my foot elevated, and can only get up for bathroom priviliges. It is a challenge, but Kevin & grandma do a good job of making sure I am not getting up at all! I go to the local lab to get my blood checked every MWF, and the lab results are called into the Dr, then my medcation is adjusted accordingly. Right now I am only on the oral blood thinners, but depending on my results I may have to add the injections to the mix. Right now it is a guessing game, untill they get my blood levels where they want them. As for the clots in my leg, I return to the Hematologist in Vegas on Friday morning, so they can run some more blood tests, as well as check the clots with the ultrasound. If the clots have disolved they will schedule the removal of the filter that they put in last week, if not, we will delay the removal. We pray that the filter can be removed, because anything over two weeks gets harder to remove, and if it stays in for 3 weeks, then there is no removing it, and I must remain on the blood thinners for the rest of my life. I have found one perk of being on the blood thinners, I get out of eating peas, and salad, who knew they were high in vitamin K, anything to avoid peas!!!!
The rest of the family remains healthy. Kendall is cutting teeth, so besides a slight fever, and grouchiness she is well.

Another Day in worse place in Vegas...the Hospital.
Today would be one of those days that you just don't want to say that you want to live again. Codi's blood clot, just hasn't gotten better, but worse. She needed to have a procedure done in order to stop the blood clot for disolving and going some where, were it shouldn't. Tommorow she will be getting an MRI to see what might be causing the infection. Until then we will continue to pray for her.

As for the boys, they are already being stubborn about being fed through the bottle. They just don't want to have anything to do with it. However, they do continue to gain weight. Kyson is at 4lbs 14oz and Kelson is at 4lbs 4oz. Kelson is finally off the light again, but still struggling to keep his body temp where it needs to be to go into the crib.

30 June, 2008 update

Hi Everyone,

Some of you might have heard that Codi is in the Hospital (Again) We took her to the ER where the twins are at, and they found a blod clot in her left leg. She is now receiving blood thiner via shot in her arm. It is safer for the babies to get a shot rather than an IV.
I drove the 3 monkeys home lastnight at 6:30pm and Laura stayed with them all night and Ellyse is with them today, until grandma with the puppies comes down in the afternoon.

As for the twins, they are still doing great and eating and gaining weight. Kelson is off his light, but still in a warmer, Kyson is in an open crib, but his billirubi is a little up, but they will continue to monitor it. Codi will be feeding them today at 3 and 3:30.

June 26th, 2008 Twins update (evening)

Hi Everyone,

Kyson is feeding at 36 cc, he does not have an IV line nor does he have his wonderful heat that was on him since birth. The Hospital has introduced him to life here on earth. Codi favorite saying "it's freezing in here " So he has a cloths and will be moving to an open crib soon. They have to see how he does with no heat.

Kelson is off his light!!!!!! He is feeding at 32 cc still with no IV line, and they also turned down his heat as well. They figure he is tuff enough to handle the cold, since he started this business.

June 25, 2008 evening update

Hi everyone, we just once again got off the phone with the nurses taking care of the twins, and they are still doing good. Kyson is feeding at 32 cc and hold him there for a little while. He still has glucose running in him and keep that in him for a little while longer. Kelson is still feeding through his nose at 32 cc. As for their weight...Kyson is at 4lbs. 11.5oz and Kelosn is 3lbs. 11.5oz (not bad) Kyson drank 5cc from bottle and Kelson drank 10cc. Thank you for all the prayers.

Wednesday June 25th Baby Update

Good Morning!
I just wanted to say a uick THANK YOU to everyone for all the support, prayers and love that is shown to us on a daily basis, we love you all! The babies continue to make leaps and bounds everyday. They are now both going to be fed once a day, by me when I am there or a bottle when I am not. We are very excited about this milestone in their little lives. Kyson is eating 31cc a feeding, his target goal is 35 cc, and should be there by 9:00pm tonight, once he reaches his goal of 35 he gets off all his IV fluids also, and Kelson remains on his 30cc, they are finally getting close, I am sure one will change that though, the competition between the two is already developing! Kyson is off of his lights, Kelson remains on his but he is going to the bathroom on his own several times a day, so they said that will help get rid of the billirubin
On a personal note, we ask for your prayers for the rest of the fam - I was in the ER last night, with a possible blood clot in my leg. They did an ultrasound and did a bunch of blood work, the ultrasound was negative but I need to repeat it today, and the blood work came back pretty normal, except for one of the tests, but we will see the OB today. I finally got tired of limping around the house and called the DR, since my leg was swelling up to, I had it all rationalized as to what was wrong with me, (nurses make the worst patients) The DR did not see it my way, and after a brief chew out, he sent me to the ER. I immediatly broke down crying and said I don't want to go back, I am sick of the hospital, he did not care! I called Kevin who was at church, and he brought the boys home and a babysitter. What a fun night.
Having not fully recovered from last night we woke up to Kylor saying he does not feel well, and throwing up on our bedroom floor. That will sure get you out of bed in a hurry no matter how bad the leg pain is. :) So for now I think we are all stable, maybe long enough to bake a cake, and plan a birthday party for Kaden tomorow. Its a crazy life but it is ours!

Tuesday June 24th

Hello to all!
Hope everyone is doing well today! The babies are both doing well. Although they are both back on their billirubin lights, this is one struggle that we just can't seem to get rid of. We pray that very soon their little livers will be able to fully get rid of all the billirubin in their system. They are both going to the bathroom regularly which also helps to rid the body of the billirubin. Kyson is continuing on his feedings, he is at 27 cc, and will be at 28 cc by noon. As they increase the feedings, they continue to decrease the TPN, iv fluids. The doctors had not been in yet, so I don't know what Kyson's target feeding goal is. Kelson has reached his goal of 30cc a feeding, and remains off all IV's. Kelson is also weighing in at 3pounds 11 ounces, what a big boy! Kelson continues to do great, except for his billirubin level, they will recheck his level again tomorrow am.

June 23, 2008 Evening Update

We just got off the phone with the nurses taking care of Kyson and Kelson. Both boys are doing well. However, both are back on the light, but the good news is that Kyson and Kelson are both going to the bathroom, which helps with the billirubin count to go down.
Kyson's weight is 4lbs. 9oz. They will weigh Kelson in the morning. Goodnight.

Baby update for Monday June 23rd

Good morning I hope all are staying somewhat cool, we are staying indoors, and avoid anything outside at all costs. It was a pleasant 118 degrees yesterday, but we are supposed to be on a cool down today of 115.
The baby boys continue to progress each day, while getting bigger and stronger. Kyson continues to try to catch up with his little brother, he is up to 23 cc of milk, every 3 hours and gets an increase in his food every 6 hours. He is going to the bathroom on his own, and even tried to suck out of the bottle yesterday. He does very well with his pacifier also.
Kelson is our little fighter. He may be small but he sure can eat. He is eating 30cc every feed, which is every 3 hours, and will stay at this level for a few days. He is also doing well on his pacifier. He remains on his light, that billirubin level just can't get low enough, I think he just needs some Arizona sun. He is completely off all IV fluids, and they took the line out of his foot last night. So all he has now is his feeding tube in.

Good morning!
We thought that creating a blog might be helpful for some who are interested in how the babies are doing, but may not always get our emails. The boys are doing great this morning. Kyson continues to progress on his eating, and remains off the light. Kelson had to take a little break from his eating last night, his belly got a little full, they x-rayed his belly and did not see anything wrong, he was just a little full so once he spit up and went to the bathroom 2 times his belly was back to normal. They held two of his feedings, but were going to restart his feeding at 11:00 am today. Kelson continues to be on his lamp for his billirubin, he is down to 8.4, and they want him at 8, so hopefully he will get thoses levels even lower tomorrow.
