Oh Me Oh My - Kaden turns 8

Our little man turned 8! It is so hard to fathom that he is 8 now, and the strange thing is that he is aging, but Kevin and I are not!!!! I so wish! We had a very fun action packed day, it started off with donuts of course, then off to VBS, from VBS we went to eat at Burger King - woohoo! What could be more perfect for an 8 year old than transformer happy meals, not so much fun for mommy - I think that Burger King is by far one of the worst eateries out there, but that is another story! So after lunch we went to see Transformers the movie- a LONG one, then it was back to grandma & grandpa's house to celebrate the party! All the family came up to celebrate. It was lots of fun, and I think that Kaden enjoyed his day. Happy Birthday our big boy

Celebrate....

What a celebration we had! Kyson & Kelson had a very special birthday party, with all the "family" that they love so much. It is such a blessing to have so many people in their lives. Grandma and I had lots of fun trying to make the red velvet Dr. Seuss cakes. Who knew red velvet needed that much red food coloring! At least everyone was not stained red! Kyson wasn't to sure what to do with the birthday cupcake, Kelson dove right in and ate it up. Kyson did not like the stickiness on his hands. They both managed to eat their 1st cupcakes, and I think enjoy them also!

Such fun, to celebrate one!!!

What fun to be One..

We are celebrating today because we survived the first year as a daddy & mommy of twins. There were moments when it was touch & go there but in the end we did it! And if we can toot our own horn for a moment, we are proud of having survived the first year with twins.

One year ago my life changed forever. The both of you were not scheduled for another 8 weeks, so I just knew that it was not "the time," I can't help the tears stream down my face as I think about meeting my little peanuts for the first time. The most beautiful sound I ever heard was the soft cries of my baby boy being born and my ears ached longing to hear the sweet sound of my 2nd baby boy crying. You were both so small, but I absolutely knew you would be just fine. God brought you into to this world, at just the perfect time for His perfect plan for your life to begin, after all He had been planning your grand entrance since the beginning of time. He created these tiny little boys to fill the space in our hearts. And this day is tattooed in my heart forever.

To my sweet peanuts: I remember your birth like it happened moments ago and I distinctly remember it was love at first sight. I remember all I wanted was to hold you in my arms and never let you go. We were separated for what seemed like eternity, but God took such good care of you, and each homecoming was so special. I love you more than I ever imagined possible. With each day I know you, I realize my life would have never been complete without you both in it. You both have brought the missing pieces to our family. You remind me of all the good that life has to offer. Every moment I'm away from you is a moment too long. This year you've taught me so many things. I never imagined revolving my world around another human being and now it's completely wrapped around the two of you. You have changed me forever. I 'm not the woman I once was. You have taught me patience and perseverance. You've taught me to be vulnerable and to be selfless. You've taught me that I can control nothing. You've made me see in myself incredible strength and yet clearly see my weaknesses. We did it boys. We made it through this year with all of its ups & downs & highs & lows & happiness & even the difficult scary sad moments. I loved every moment. Thanks be to God for the wonderful package he so gently gave us one year ago, our little preemie peanuts weighing in at 3 & 4 pounds are now tipping the scales, and so big and strong. Watch out - cause the Dunlap boys are coming!!!!

Love that man...

12 years later and I still love that man of mine more and more. He is really quite amazing. Not only is he the most attractive man ever, but he has a heart that just barely fits in his body! What makes him even greater, he took me out to dinner and used a coupon we had for 2 free dinners, got ice cream for us and used a gift card, and by one get one free coupon, and then went to the grocery store (with coupons), and got 4 boxes of cereal, and a bottle of apple juice, for $3.48. Nothing speaks to my heart like thriftiness! Happy Anniversary my love!

Thing 1 & Thing 2 party...

Yeah - I can't hardly believe that my little babies are going to be 1.  We have a Dr Seuss birthday party planned for them, which there is absolutely nothing out there for that, but never fear, I found some great ideas, and designed these cards with some cute Seuss looking napkins from Target.  Now I just have to design their thing 1 and thing 2 t-shirts.

Homemade Pop tarts...

These definitely were not the easiest thing to make because of the dough.  I am a little bit dough making challenged, but I persevered and came out with a product that my toughest critics really enjoyed.  We all actually liked these homemade pop tarts better than the real deal.  I just have to figure out a better recipe for the dough.

Coffee Ice cubes...

So,  to many in the coffee world I am sure this is old news, but we discovered coffee ice cubes while visiting Lake Tahoe, at the cutest little coffee shop.  I figure if someone who doesn't even like coffee gets excited about this, then those coffee addicts like my husband, should get really giddy about this.  Who would of thought to freeze leftover coffee, and save for you iced coffee drinks later, who knew!!!! Thanks to Ms Faith for making coffee for me to do this!

The list....

We are in full swing of summer vacation, and loving every minute of it.  The big boys and I came up with a list of some things that we would like to do this summer, little did I know that I would have to do lots of studying in order to do some of these things.  Some help my college degree is if I can't even explain what is inside a black hole!  So here is our list:
1. Learn how to fix cars with daddy
2. Make a bird, do they have bones, whats inside, make a bird feeder (one side note, this idea came from Kylor, he said that I want to make a bird, I responded we don't make birds only God does, Kylor said God can tell us how.  Yes He can, but He is telling me to make it with clay!)
3. Make Monkey bread
4. Learn about worms, make worm pudding, read how to eat fried worms.
5. Learn to sew a pair of shorts.
6. Learn to sew a seal, learn about seals, why they are so smooth.
7. Make crayons into fun molds
8. Learn about climbing animals, and insects.
9. Learn to make rubber (silly putty)
10. make a house out of clay - make sure it is hard (per Kylor)
11. Learn about spiders
12. Learn about fish & crabs - eat fish (Kylor, again)
13. Black holes - what inside of them? (Kaden)
14. How crystals form? make rock candy
15. Learn about electricity - Kaden suggests that Mr Chris will help us with this (are you ready Mr. electricity?)
16. What is smoke?
17. Lions - why are they called king of the jungle?
18. Make a marshmallow gun.
19. make our own marshmallows.
So I guess this will get us started, but not without a trip to the library 1st!
I love summer but am always looking for more ideas! Anyone have any?

Those crazy birds...

We had such a fun time at the beach, but who knew that geese could be so persistent.  I made the mistake of giving a seagull a cracker, and from then on it was all over.  Somehow birds can communicate very clearly with each other, even from very far away distances.  Before we knew it we were surrounded by lots of seagulls, then the geese came waddling down the beach.  The big boys thought that it was so funny that we were surrounded by 14 geese.  The babies payed to attention to them, and Miss Kendall was okay with them as long as they did not get to close.  They were very fun to watch, you can't get that kind of entertainment everyday!
