healthy chocolate chip cookies????

I just finished baking chocolate chip cookies, and for some reason I believe that since I use whole wheat flour, that negates all the butter, and sugar and somehow makes them healthy...doesn't it??  With Kevin gone, and home alone with 5 children I can think whatever I want at this point..  I say this as I am baking banana bread, bananas are definitely good for you...right?....once again the negatives are canceled out....

Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies
3/4 C Unsalted butter
1 C Sugar
1 C Light Brown Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
2 eggs
2 Cups sifted Whole Wheat Flour
1 C Flour
3/4 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
2 C Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter & sugars in an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix in vanilla & eggs. Combine flours, baking soda & salt. Gradually blend flour mixture into butter mixture. Fold in chocolate chips and drop onto a cookie sheet that has been lined with silpat or that has been greased.  Bake 8-10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes on baking sheets before placing on a wire rack.
Here is the recipe in case you are craving a healthy snack!!!!hehe!!

Dr Seuss Birthday week

What a fun & busy week around the Dunlap house.  All week we have celebrated reading, the boys have been very busy & creative.  Monday we kicked off the week with green Grinch day, the outfits were completely chosen by the boys, and I must say that who knew there were so many shades of green in those drawers.  I was especially proud of Kaden and his Green soccer socks pulled over his knees.  He gets his fashion from his daddy!!!! :) Tuesday we had crazy hat day, 20 glue sticks later, and a hat that weighed almost 3 pounds, the boys had hats they were proud to wear.  Maybe a little too excited.....Wednesday was dress as your favorite character, Kaden was a pirate, Will Butler, and Kylor was King Peter.  So cute they were.  Today leads us into read a t-shirt day, and tomorrow is PJ day!  Whew, what an exciting week.

Don't try this at home...

So the fruit leather thing, not so good... Kaden & Kylor tried it, and before they could chew it down, their little mouths puckered up like they had just eaten a lemon.  I responded with "I guess it needs something else," to which Kylor quickly said "yeah, SUGAR" so it was  a little on the tart side.  Kendall did not seem to mind it too much.  I guess I will have to revisit this recipe, and make some modifications, for the time being I will stick with making granola bars, no complaints for those!

Fruit leather????

I am going to attempt to make some fruit leather today, how crazy does that sound?  The kids absolutely love to eat fruit roll ups, the real fruit kind, and the only place that we have found fruit leather is at the Sunflower Market which is in Vegas not so practical, so I found a recipe, and am going to try it out,  I will keep you posted...... The whole drying outside for 24 hours should be interesting!!!!

The Dunlap Kids!  Our little Miss Kendall surrounded by so many boys...she will be both spoiled rotten and tough as nails.  Can you name them all?????? Here is a hint - Kendall is the only girl!!!!!

The battle over the sheet!

Kendall loves her "sheet" she has a soft blanket that she calls her sheet that she takes everywhere, to bed, outside, and everywhere in between.  Kyson has decided that he also likes big sisters sheet.  Needless to say it creates a bit of tension between the 2.  Kendall tells Kyson "no eats" or" "no meme (baby)" or complains to me, "mama sheet wet."  Its very serious business for Miss Kendall, but quite amusing for daddy & mommy!

Getting ready for all the big Valentines Day festivities.  It is so wonderful now that the big boys know how to write neatly, and can read their friends names.  We picked out Indiana Jones (Kaden) & Pokemon (Kylor) Valentines and they began busily working on their valentines.  They were very particular on which friends were getting which ones, they have some special friends so of course those ones got the "best ones."  Valentines have become so fancy, no there are tattoos, and little heart sticker, and the valentine itself.  No more little white envelopes.  It took most of the evening but the valentines are all stuffed, and labeled.  Even Miss Kendall got into the action, she was concentrating very hard,  she has lots of friends that she had to address for also - at least she thinks so! Now we just have to wait to give them out on Friday, and enjoy the valentines day parties - yeah!

Bath time

Bath time for the babies.  What a fun time, there is lots of splashing, and slick little babies to try to hold onto.  At almost 8 months and 18 & 19 pounds, they are like little wet piggies.  If you add Kendall to the mix, it turns into a pretty wild & wet time, somehow I even get soaked!

Lining up babies

Kendall stays so busy all day long taking care of her babies.   She has to get them up, burp them, take them on walks in the stroller, put them back down, pick them up and it goes on and on...all day long.  Every once in a while she is over come by the desire to have her babies all in order, including the big baby brothers, they usually don't cooperate as well as the baby dolls, but on this occasion Kendall got them all to behave, and line up nicely.

7 months old

Everyone always asks me if the Kyson & Kelson are identical twins.  I am always a bit surprised because I don't think they look anything alike, but every once in a while I will See a picture that they look pretty similar in.  What cute little boys they are!

Swinging...

Kendall loves to swing, and today she gave up her swing so that baby brother could have a turn at it.  It was Kyson's first time in the swing and he loved it, not to mention the company of sister talking to him.

Awana Grand Prix - in progress

The AWANA grand prix is fast approaching -otherwise known as the pine wood derby.  All the big boys have decided to enter the challenge.  The 1st step of the process is to design your race car and then cut it out.  Daddy was very nervous about that part, but he came through with flying colors.  the next step will be hand sanding their cars......
