Passion week continued...

We have been busy this week with all the events leading up to today Good Friday, and also life!
Wednesday the big boys had AWANA, so when the boys got home we talked about this being the day that the plot was formed against Jesus, we related this loosely to how it makes us feel when we get in trouble for something that we didn't do.
Thursday - WOW! So many events this day!  The washing of the disciples feet, the Last Supper, the prayer in the garden, the betrayal, and the trial. Tonight we focused on the Last Supper, and discussed what we had learned form Monday, then we talked about the betrayal and trial.  This was pretty heart breaking, we read about what happened to Jesus, and talked about what Jesus must have felt like knowing that tomorrow He would be hung on the cross in the most brutally barbaric execution of all times (left that out for the kiddos) We thanked Jesus that He obeyed the Father, and died for me, and me and me!!!
Friday- Crucifixion, death and burial of Christ!  Today we spent time together as a family so thankful for Jesus and what he did!  We gathered stones for our Easter Blessing Baskets.  We painted them black to represent our sins against God.  These rocks will go in their baskets today and be replaced by goodies on Sunday morning. Sin is not the easiest concept to convey to little minds, but we hope that seeing these black rocks, and then seeing them gone, replaced with sweet gifts will convey to the boys how Jesus died for this exact reason!  Since tomorrow is not an event on the timeline, we are going to get some flowers to plant, so thankful for life, color eggs, and make Resurrection day cookies! Not to mention play a little baseball first thing in the morning!
Hope ya'all are experiencing the selfless love and forgiveness of Jesus this week!
